DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA: BEAC changes rules for money transfers between residents and foreigners

In a circular letter dated 14 August, Abbas Mahamat Tolli , the governor of the Bank of Central African States Beac, clarifies transfers outside Cemac :

  • Cameroon
  • Central African Republic
  • Congo
  • Gabon
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Chad

on profits generated by non-residents and foreign residents.

All labour income paid in FCFA may be transferred outside CEMAC, provided that the non-resident or resident alien provides evidence that a portion of his or her local expenses (rent, hotel expenses, and other items of subsistence) have been met. Otherwise, the amount of the employment income to be transferred may not exceed 75% of this income " , 

states the document signed by the governor. However, it states, the transfer of labour income in foreign currency to foreign non-residents is free of charge.

Investing in Cameroon - The Ministry of Commerce (Mincommerce) informs that 50 products may soon be suspended imported into Cameroon. Without specifying details or deadlines for the implementation of this measure, the Ministry of Trade nevertheless indicates that no less than 12 sectors are affected, due to the surplus nature of local production.
These areas include:
  • varnishes,
  • metallurgy,
  • cement,
  • industrial packaging,
  • cosmetics,
  • agribusiness,
  • vegetable oils,
  • palm oil derivatives and the brewing industry.

TICAD-JapanINVESTING IN AFRICA: Over twenty African leaders are participating in the 7th Summit of the International Conference for African Development ( TICAD ) in Tokyo, which kicked off today (28 August) in Japan.

TICAD yes is held in Japan with the exception of TICADVI held in Africa. TICAD7 takes place in Yokohama, Japan.The event ended on Friday 30 August 2019.
